FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAMDEN—As spring returns to Camden, Cappy’s owner Johanna Tutone is delighted to be rejoining her crew at the restaurant following a long illness. “It’s been a very difficult winter,” she says. “I can’t begin to express how much I appreciate everyone’s support. I’m so fortunate to have so many wonderful friends, and such a great team at Cappy’s.”

Tutone has also announced that David Robichaud is joining her as business partner and manager of Cappy’s. While he looks after the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, Tutone will focus on planning and special projects.

Tutone’s longtime friend and associate, Robichaud was most recently the Special Events and Weddings Manager at Point Lookout in Northport. He is also the proprietor of Summersport Mercantile, a South Thomaston shop offering antiques and interior design as well as English high teas served in the shop’s charming surroundings. Robichaud has had a strong connection with the Camden area since he was a child. For years, he and his family regularly came here to visit friends and family. In the 1980s, Robichaud moved here and established and co-owned a décor and interior design shop located at 51 Bayview Street.

Tutone and Robichaud are both very pleased to announce that Patrick Cazemajou, the original chef/owner of the Bayview Street restaurant Ephemère, is Cappy’s new chef. Under Cazemajou’s direction, there will be some appealing new items on the menu, and Cappy’s Bakery will be selling takeout chowder and sandwiches as well as sweet treats. But Cappy’s fans can be reassured they’ll still find their favorite dishes as well as the welcoming atmosphere that has been the hallmark of Cappy’s for 32 years.

Tutone points out that she named the restaurant in honor of Cappy Quinn, a true old salt who was born and brought up on Eagle Island in Penobscot Bay. A boatbuilder by trade, Cappy skippered the yacht belonging to famous designer and inventor Buckminster Fuller, and was a familiar face around the Camden waterfront. “I loved listening to him reminisce about the old days,” she says. “He taught me about having pride in everything you do. All of us at Cappy’s work hard to see that our customers’ experiences reflect that pride. As we begin our thirty-third summer season, everyone is committed to our guiding philosophy of doing everything possible to see that customers enjoy their meals and visits to the fullest.”

Tutone adds that for years she has also taken pride in supporting and promoting Maine farms and food artisans. “We’ve always prepared our food using as many locally produced ingredients as possible,” she notes. “We also try to be as green as possible. We recycle our cooking oil to heat homes and use green products wherever we can.”

Cappy’s is currently open every day except Wednesday. It will be closed for its annual cleaning the last week in April. Beginning May 1, the restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. The bakery will be open daily from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
